Thanksgiving Personal Post

by Darren Sherburne 11/25/2022

My beautiful wife and I.

Let me begin by acknowledging the gap between this Personal Post and the last. It has been a spectacular year in Real Estate, but it has also kept me in a full-sprint since the middle of the year. I’ve been so fortunate to work with great clients, both buyers and sellers alike, and my time has been dedicated to every transaction I’m a part of. Real Estate is a 24/7 job, but for someone like me that’s the type of engagement I need in my career.

To all of my clients, past and current, thank you for letting me work with you and allowing me to be a part of a life transition. Real Estate is something that everyone becomes involved with eventually in one way or another. The stories I’ve accumulated and the life experience that I’ve gained are incredibly valuable, and I look forward to continuing on this road for as long as it will host me.

My personal life has developed since I last wrote a Personal Post. Kate Sherburne and myself married on October 16th of this year. It was a small, beautiful ceremony and we’re happy to have shared it with our spheres and felt so much love. I’m a very lucky man, and our life together is something I’ll be sharing more often as the colder weather  and darker days naturally slows our market. There’s also a wedding website that I’m sure my wife would be happy to share with you if you ask her nicely.

We’re still running against a fast paced market current, even this late in the year. I’m happy to say I’ve been able to facilitate contract development in this turbulent time as interest rates and market conditions are topics of regular conversation with buyers and sellers alike. I’m forever an optimist, and I’m happy to discuss any aspect of the business as well as share any knowledge I’ve accumulated in my travels.

I hope everyone has had a happy Thanksgiving. It’s a great time to slow down and acknowledge the families that we’re fortunate to have. We cooked dinner for my In-Laws and hosted at our house. It was a delicious dinner and quality time. My day was also unique in the lack of a ringing phone, which I enjoyed thoroughly as I was in great company and the world deserved a day off.

As we move further into winter, stay safe and stay healthy. I’ve been unfortunate to have COVID but fortunate to only have slight residual effects. While today might feel like the culmination of a lot of preparation, remember that other holidays are right around the corner! It’s a marathon, not a sprint, and I hope your turkey allows you to rest peacefully.

Check out the collection of photos of properties that have closed within the past few months. I'm extremely proud of my ability to do what I do, and I love sharing it through this medium. Feel free to share it with anyone, and reach out any time if I can ever be of assistance, I’m happy to help however I can.

I was born and raised in the town of Newbury, Vermont. Before, during, and after obtaining my Bachelor’s degree from Johnson & Wales University in Providence, Rhode Island, I worked in the hospitality industry throughout New England. One of my proudest achievements is being one of the youngest Certified Sommeliers, having passed the exam at the age of 21.

Each client and customer comes to the table with a different set of needs and wants. Utilizing my career history and life experience allows me to apply those elements to each Real Estate endeavor. I take great pride in providing a creative and innovative experience to everyone I work with by utilizing current technology and trends. I also provide professional-level photography and videography including production not only for my seller clients but also for buyers who are looking at a property from afar.
